You Know You Are a Sports Addict When

You Know You Are a Sports Addict WhenShe accuses you of spending too much time glued to the TV, watching sports. If you're not watching a game, you're surfing through sports sites, watching reruns online, or leafing through sports magazines.

She also nags you that you're no longer taking her out on dates, helping around the house, or that your sports addiction is already affecting your relationship. You argue saying you're not a sports addict but a sports fan. At the back of your mind though, you think you probably are.

Here are some ways to tell if you're a sports addict.

Your vacation is already being affected.
Planning a short vacation with your family or your girlfriend became much more complicated. No more spontaneity and "let's go out of town for a couple of days" plans. Instead, there's more of, "Wait! I have to check the sports dates first." You'll always check and see which home team is in town, so you can plan around their schedules.

If you absolutely have to go on a vacation and there's no way out of it, then you'll choose a city that will be hosting sports tournaments and championships You'll arrange a trip to that city when there's a game scheduled. Let's kill two birds with one stone, shall we?

You use your days off from work for the love of the game.
Instead of spending your days off with your family or girlfriend, you're using it for sports. If there's one scheduled but it's not your day off, then you'll swap days with a colleague so you can watch it. If you can't swap days off, then you're going to call in sick.

Your car radio is permanently glued to sports station.
Even if you're simply driving from work to office, your car radio is tuned in to sports radio stations. In fact, it's been glued there forever. You listen to it on your way to work and home; and your passengers are forced to listen to it with you.

You surf through sports sites every chance you get while at work or at home.
If you can't watch your favorite sports on TV, then you're going to watch in online. You even surf through sports sites to stay on top of everything that's going on in the world of your favorite sports. Why miss anything, right?

Your chores at home are being affected.
You tend to neglect your chores at home. Instead of throwing away the garbage as expected, you're watching your favorite game. Instead of cleaning the barbecue grill you used during the weekend, you shove it somewhere where your wife won't see it so you can watch the game.

You oftentimes feel irritated if you're interrupted in a game.
If your wife or partner interrupts you and asks for your help around the house, you get irritated and moody. If you were forced to actually do the house chores, you sulk and mope around. Can't they see you're busy?

Your mood is affected by the outcome of the game.
The outcome of the game also affects your mood. If your team wins, you feel high. If they lose, then it ruins the rest of the day and even affects the whole week.

If you answered yes to all these questions, then you are suffering from sports addiction. Sports should be fun, but it should not consume your whole being and affect your life and the lives of your loved ones.
