Rahul Dravid is undoubtedly the most respected and dignified cricketer in India, says Sachin Tendulkar, you can even refer to him as the best cricketer India has ever produced. 

The retirement of Rahul Dravid from the test cricket has raised lots of hues and cries from cricket experts from India. The ultimate question is who will replace Rahul Dravid in the test line up of India.

Here are some of the suggestions as per the recent performances. 

Ajinkya Rahane

This man did not rise out of nowhere in IPL 2012. He had been in the Indian selector’s framework for a year or two. He had toured with the Indian cricket team for some series but was overlooked in the line-up
Due to bigger names. After IPL 2012 the name Ajinkya Rahane has become bigger with the continous consistent performance as an opener for Rajasthan royals, Ajinkya Rahane has staked his role in the Indian test squad. What has worked for him is that he has been able to learn the tricks from Rahul Dravid himself.

With a batting style and consistency that resembles Rahul Dravid Ajinkya Rahane is a key replacement for him.

Cheteshwar Pujara

For some time this man is being regarded as the copycat of Rahul Dravid. He is technicaly perfect and has played consistently the test format than any other ranji players in india. But he has not been able to utilise he IPL to his good in anyway. Playing for a strong team like RCB he has been relegated to the bottom spots where he gets to bat the death overs(if ever he gets the chance).

A player like him needs time to adapt and hence needs to play at the top of order. Hope the teams better utilise him in the IPLs to come.



Subramanian Badrinath
Playing within his limitations of his batting style you can say that he has played extremely well for Chennai Super Kings. He has captained the south zone and is definitely one of the most experienced Ranji cricketer of India.

Though age does not favour him to be a long term option he can be considered as the replacement of Rahul Dravid for some years to come.
